Newest gig: The LA Film Race

Under Gigs By DM

For the next month and a half I’ll be hyping and prepping for the LA Film Race, a filmmaking competition/festival that will take place the first week of May.

In short, filmmakers are invited to sign up to make a film in less than 24 hours. At 10pm, Friday, May 2nd, film crews will be given “a theme,” and by 10pm Saturday night need to write, shoot, and edit a no longer than 4 minute short film with that theme in mind. A few nights later, all of the completed films will be screened at movie theatre on the big screen.

The big incentive are a ton of prizes for the best films, actors, etc., that will be decided upon by a panel of entertainment industry guests. Some prizes will be given out for the best in L.A., bigger prizes will go to winners nationwide - Film Races will take places in other cities around this same time.

As the event producer, I’ll be finding venues for the film dropoffs and screenings, and getting word out about both the competition and screenings. I’m pretty excited about this, since I’d probably be a contestant if I wasn’t handling the all around logistics.

More on the LA Film Race here.
