Credentials project!
Finally got around to starting a project I’ve wanted to do for some time: scanning and posting all my credentials from shows I’ve collected over the years. Mainly stuff I’ve worked on, but also events I’ve attended recently as press.
You can take a peek here.

“Cakehole surgery” allows appendectomies… through the mouth
As amazing as this procedure is, I’m more impressed by what they’re calling it: “Cakehole surgery.”
Surgeons at the University of California San Diego Medical Centre threaded tiny instruments, including a camera, down Mr Scholz’s throat. After emptying his stomach they cut into its lining to cut away the inflamed appendix. The rogue organ was placed […]

Holy cow - I’ve won a major award!
In one of my oddest high school moments, after being summoned to the school office over the p.a. was handed a fancy certificate complete with seal and calligraphy congratulating me on my service with the local Special Olympics. What was strange, besides them misspelling my name As Dare Markland, was that I’d never volunteered or […]

Phew…
After much fangling, this site now displays teasers of my entries at LA Metblogs and California Faultline. Ideally, these posts will appear offset from news items, like this one, intended for this blog only… but, in the meantime, this trick should work.

The RSS feed of my posts at LA Metblogs is active once again. While I encourage everyone to read all of the authors’ posts there, you can just have mine added to your feed reader with the following address:

Also, keep an eye on the “64 Worst Things About L.A.” project I’m managing. I stole the […]

Newest gig: The LA Film Race
For the next month and a half I’ll be hyping and prepping for the LA Film Race, a filmmaking competition/festival that will take place the first week of May.
In short, filmmakers are invited to sign up to make a film in less than 24 hours. At 10pm, Friday, May 2nd, film crews will be given […]

California Faultline
On Monday I officially enter the realm of “professional bloggers” - if by “professional” the standard is simply that I’m being paid.
It’s a political blog for KNBC called “California Faultline,” and will cover local, state, and national politics as they relate to Los Angeles and Californians. It will take a couple weeks for me to […]

Glitches at LA Metblogs…
All fixed!
For some quirky reason, the front page of LA Metblogs isn’t showing new posts for random readers. However, if anyone is reading the site using an RSS reader, they’re getting new posts sent to them like normal.
Selfishly, all I can recommend in the meantime is to track my own posts using my profile page […]

Welcome to my redesigned personal page
I’ll be make a few changes here over the next few days, such as adding links to my MySpace and LinkedIn profile, and other typically boring items.
In the meantime, keep an eye on my newest posts at the newly designed L.A. Metblog (formerly known at Metroblogging L.A.):
My bio and list of recent entries.
The main page […]
